Scope
Reporting to the Systems Support Manager, the incumbent manages library servers and manages workstations through hard disk images and group policies and scripting.
Primary responsibilities
- Plan, develop, maintain, and document images for public and staff workstations.
- Plan, perform, and document workstation configuration, using group policies, scripts, and network management resources; monitor workstation usage and performance.
- Plan, implement, upgrade, and document Library servers including configuration, scripting, upgrades, performance monitoring troubleshooting and repairs. Implement and maintain Institutional Repository servers.
- Manage security and integrity of the Library’s servers and workstations.
- Work with Library technicians to understand workstation problems and resolve them.
- Research latest trends and technologies in management and security of servers and workstations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or in a field pertinent to the primary responsibilities and two to four years of related work experience; previous experience in managing and securing workstations and servers essential.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems and applications in a networked environment, with Windows server.
- Experience working with Microsoft servers and operating systems. Experience with installing and maintaining server hardware and related equipment. Knowledge of network equipment and configuration such as TCP/IP and DNS.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with EPrints repository software and related applications.
- Basic knowledge of WSUS, SMS, MOM, and other remote management tools and services, UNIX, and shell scripting.
- Experience in creating and maintaining Windows PE boot disks, VBScripts and Windows batch files.
- Good knowledge of spoken and written English (Level 4) in order to provide complex information, clear explanations, and documentation not only to peers but also to end-users.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, along with interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Salary
$53,553.06 - $64,000.86 per annum
