SENIOR ACCOUNTS CLERK, WEB DEVELOPMENT AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT (P5257A)

Scope
Reporting to the Manager, Student Accounts & University Cashier’s Office, the incumbent acts as a resource person for the development, design, implementation, and maintenance of several web-sites and electronic forms/applications, and is a key-member of the department’s (SIS) A/R System Maintenance and Development team; provides technical support for hardware and software tools for the service. The incumbent collects delinquent accounts, makes arrangements of payments for these accounts and responds to inquiries from students.
Primary responsibilities
- Assist the Manager in the administration of the billing system and of the financial system interface: recommend development of new applications for enhancing systems and problem solving, test and implement modifications and new applications; design, implement and maintain electronic forms for the unit.
- Design, implement and maintain web-sites related to Tuition and Fees, Student Accounts and University Cashier’s operations. Provide technical support to the Student Accounts and University Cashier’s Office: hardware, software, networks, printers, virus management, equipment inventory and other technical support; evaluate technical needs of unit, make recommendations for replacement and/or purchases of new equipment and/or software applications; provide staff training on desktop applications and act as a resource person for the unit.
- Act as a member of the Student Accounts (Systems) Development Committee by providing input on systems maintenance, modifications and development projects; verify and test system output reports and modifications.
- Provide front-line service to students: advise and direct to the appropriate service department, establish payment agreements with students who have small to large delinquent accounts and provide University cashiering services.
- Participate in the optimization and management of accounts receivable and of cashiering operations: collect delinquent accounts, establish payment arrangements, take appropriate action with regard to the collection of overdue accounts; post adjustments, account flags and special notations to students’ accounts as necessary; process retroactive adjustments and provide guidance to other Account Clerks and to Service Assistants.
- Provide information and services related to Student Accounts and Cashiering operations: answer complex account inquiries, research and verify account transactions and balances and respond in writing to student inquiries.
Requirements
- Technical Diploma of College Studies (3-year technical program) in a field related to the primary responsibilities and two to four years of related work experience. Proven experience working with the public highly desirable.
- Proven knowledge of web-site design and interactive web applications, network applications, computer virus protection, etc.; knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Image, Acrobat, Visual Basic.net, SQL, Crystal Reports, VBA, Excel Macros.
- Proven knowledge of PC hardware and software in a networked Windows™ environment.
- Very good spoken English (Level 5) in order to advise staff and students about university policies; good written English (Level 4) in order to compose and proofread correspondence; basic spoken French (Level 3) in order to answer inquiries for routine to complex information from students, other employees and members of the public; basic French reading comprehension (Level 3).
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel (to create, modify and format charts, and use financial functions) and Word (to create templates, format and create complex tables, and create mail merges); proven experience using e-mail and Internet applications.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening and problem-solving skills; attention to detail; demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team under limited supervision.
Salary
$18.93 - $22.80 per hour
